Monkind was established in 2014 and is based in Berlin, Germany. The brand’s focus is on sleek, minimal design paired with organic and sustainable materials. At least 95% of their production is GOTS certified organic cotton. The majority of Monkind products have a certification as "Approved Vegan" from PeTa. The brand sets annual goals for sustainability and forges strategies to achieve them.

Monkind collections are made in Portugal. The GOTS certificate and EU laws set strict guidelines for the working conditions and salary of the workers. The working conditions must be up to standard and the workers are paid at least a living wage.
